Most days my pantry is my best friend. It saves me time after time when I haven’t planned well and get so enthralled in work that I don’t really think about “what’s for dinner” until my stomach starts to growl. It’s also the place where I overstuff the shelves with too many impulse purchases and never throw out the sad spices that are at least six months stale.
Now that I’m living with gluten intolerance, I find myself thinking twice before eating out. This may be the case for your family as well, regardless of your food allergies. Cooking is no longer a nice idea. It’s my ticket to feeling good, nourishing my body, and it’s just plain necessary. As a chef, I also clearly really enjoy it!
I hope my pantry essentials cheat sheet, along with some of our favorite sites for how to buy, store, and keep your pantry items fresh helps your family with more tools to plan ahead and find more joy on the days when those last minute meals just might save you. Your pantry can be your best friend, too, with just a little planning to get you started!
